BIG NEWS | TCS just moved from #32 to #14 out of 115 school systems across North Carolina in overall proficiency! 🎉
That kind of jump reflects the hard work of our teachers, the leadership of our principals, the partnership of our families and community, and the effort of our students every single day.
But we know we're more than a score. This ranking is one measure of progress toward our vision of cultivating resilient, future-ready students, and we remain committed to fostering a safe, supportive and innovative learning environment for every student, in every school, every day.
Congratulations, TCS! There's more work ahead, and we're ready for it.

The hallways are quiet tonight, but not for long!
From dropping off items at our school supply drive to prepping classrooms and catching up with familiar faces at Open House, our staff and community have been working hard to make sure this year starts off with a bang.
We are so excited to welcome our students back tomorrow morning. Get those backpacks packed, set those alarms, and get a good night's sleep. We'll see you at the front doors bright and early! 📚✏️🎉

Dear TCS Community,
Due to unexpected snowfall in parts of the county, schools will be on a 2-hour delay this morning, February 9. Buses will not run on icy roads. Thank you for your understanding.
Dear Transylvania County Schools community,
Due to icy road conditions in parts of our county and expected low temperatures overnight, Transylvania County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay tomorrow, Friday, February 6. This decision has been made out of an abundance of caution to prioritize the safety of our students and staff.
The delayed start will provide drivers with daylight visibility to safely navigate any remaining slick areas. We believe this is the safest option for our school community.
Important Bus Route Information:
Please be advised that buses will not run on the following roads, or any secondary roads accessed from these roads, due to hazardous icy conditions:
Little River Campground Rd.
Reasonover Rd.
Solomon Jones Rd.
Upper Rich Mountain Rd.
Allen McCall Rd.
Macintosh Rd.
Shelton Rd.
Slick Fisher Rd.
Staton Rd.
McKee Rd.
ALTERNATE PICK-UP LOCATIONS:
If your regular stop is affected, please bring your child to one of these locations or contact your school for information:
Little River Area: Little River Fire Department or Little River Baptist Church
Lake Toxaway Area: Lake Toxaway Fire Department
Balsam Grove Area: Balsam Grove Community Center
Carsons Creek Area: Connestee Fire Department (at Connestee back gate)
IMPORTANT SAFETY REMINDER: Please keep your children inside where it's warm until the bus arrives. Drivers will honk their horns and allow extra time for your child to board the bus.
Please continue to follow our social media accounts and visit our website for any updates.
