Update provided by Transylvania County

Learn more about the Transylvania County School bond projects below:
What are bonds?
Bonds are a method of funding to help pay for large-scale projects like these school renovations. A complete plan for projects had to be created and submitted before the bonds could be sold. The first bonds were sold at the end of 2024 so the projects could begin. The County will pay the bonds back over time according to a pre-established schedule. The County has been planning and saving for school bond payments over multiple years.
What are the school bond projects?
These are capital (construction/renovation) projects to conduct major updates and repairs to ALL Transylvania County Schools. The scopes of work were identified through a comprehensive assessment by contractor Axias; approved by both the Board of Education and the Board of Commissioners; and finalized in an Interlocal Agreement by Transylvania County and Transylvania County Schools in February 2025.
Want to stay in the loop on school renovations?
The School Bond Project Manager delivers a report on the renovation and construction work at the 2nd Board of Commissioners meeting every month, as well as at Board of Education Meetings. His reports are also available on the County website at http://www.transylvaniacounty.org/transylvania-county...
